Free Senior Care Educational Workshop
Making decisions about long-term care for an aging loved one can be a daunting and complicated process. To help streamline this process, the St. Margaret’s Foundation and Belleville Assisted Living will present a free Senior Care Educational Workshop on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 6 - 7:30 PM. The workshop will take place at Belleville Assisted Living, 813 Pelican Avenue in New Orleans.
At the Senior Care Educational Workshop, a panel of industry experts will cover some of the various long-term care options that are available – including independent living, assisted living, nursing, home care and hospice – and what each model entails. These experts will talk about when it is necessary for seniors or their caregivers to seek additional assistance; how to determine the most appropriate living environment for the senior based on their specific needs; things to look for when choosing a long-term care provider; how insurance, Medicare and Medicaid factor into the various long-term care options; and more. Speakers will include representatives from St. Margaret’s (nursing and hospice), Belleville Assisted Living, HomeLife in the Gardens (independent living), R&R Home Care, Inc., and Daul Insurance. Regional support for this event is provided by the Algiers Economic Development Foundation.
The workshop is open to seniors, senior caregivers and community members who are interested in learning more about long-term care options. Following the presentations, there will be a question and answer session with the speakers. Light refreshments will be provided. The workshop is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Call 504-362-7166 or email abergman@bellevilleno.org to register.
