NEW ORLEANS — Lyft, whose mission is to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation, has hired Eli Ackerman as general manager of its Gulf Coast operations. According to a press release, Ackerman will oversee operations and growth across the Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama markets.
Ackerman joins Lyft after five years at Lucid, LLC, where he most recently served as executive director, helping firms integrate with Lucid’s marketplace for online research. Ackerman was instrumental in building Lucid’s reach among academic researchers and pollsters, who are rapidly shifting to online tools and techniques.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Lyft team. As an avid Lyft user, I have always admired Lyft’s mission, products, and core values, and have watched as the company became an integral part of New Orleans’ transit ecosystem,” said Ackerman. “Being the Gulf Coast General Manager is a tremendous opportunity to connect with the rider and driver communities while putting a face to the Lyft name for regional partners and community leaders . The region is experiencing a boom across industries and a complex transportation ecosystem in which Lyft is – and can continue to be – an important part. I’m looking forward to working with these regions and growing with its residents.”
Lyft first launched in New Orleans in 2016, and most recently, celebrated the passing of statewide rideshare legislation across Louisiana.
“Eli is a tremendous addition to the Lyft team and the ideal person to lead the Lyft business in the Gulf Coast region. He understands the importance of extending the Lyft mission to the local community and has so much passion for the area,” said Sam Bond, regional director of Lyft Southeast. “I’m thrilled that he will be on the ground, strengthening our relationships with the driver and rider communities, as well as local partners.”
