Mentoring Opportunity: Support Teen Leaders Planning Retreat for Teens with Cancer! 2018-2019
Heart of Passion (HoP) is a nonprofit organization that empowers high school leaders to independently plan, organize, fundraise for, and execute a four-day all-expense paid retreat for teens with cancer called Red Carpet Day. The 15-20 high school leaders depend on young professional mentors to guide and support them through this year-long process, also known as the Leadership Development Program. During the Leadership Development Program, mentors facilitate planning and development workshops for the high school leaders utilizing Heart of Passion-provided resources, tailored lesson plans, and their own personal and/or professional skills to impart core competencies and support the creation and execution of Red Carpet Day. Throughout this process, mentors are provided with the opportunity to explore their own personal and professional development and to directly provide positive and unique experiences for teens with cancer. Mentors should be at least one year out of undergraduate studies, care about high school students succeeding and developing into future community leaders, are interested in supporting teens with cancer, and have a passion or life experiences they want to share with others. Why you Should Join: – Make a difference for teens with cancer by tearing down the walls that cancer builds socially and emotionally – Teach high school students real world skills and watch them apply these skills to achieve impactful results – Cultivate the next generation of leaders – Gain professional and personal development skills Interested?
