Storm Savings - how to save on your insurance
Jefferson Parish Councilwoman At-Large Jennifer Van Vrancken, in partnership with the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans, and the New Orleans Education League of the Construction Industry (NOEL), invites all home owners to learn more about how to better protect property and cut home insurance costs at “Storm Savings” – community events to be held on both the east bank and the west bank of Jefferson Parish.
The first session will take place on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 6pm at the Westbank Regional Library (2751 Manhattan Blvd, Harvey); the second session will take place on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 6pm at the Eastbank Regional Library (4747 West Napoleon, Metairie). Both events are free and open to the public.
”As I speak with homeowners across the Parish, the skyrocketing cost of insurance comes up continuously as a concern,” Van Vrancken said. “We must empower home owners in Jefferson Parish to take advantage of any and all incentives to drive down the crushing cost of property insurance.”
These events will feature experts and exhibitors with valuable information on storm mitigation, fortified roofing, and insurance incentives. The goal is to provide practical advice to put everyone in a better position before the next storm season. Tips and topics will include how to get a storm survey of a home, what is the difference between a regular roof and one that is ‘fortified’, and which grants and tax incentives help cover the cost to storm proof homes.
