Ms. Gernhauser founded Barbon Gernhauser Law to help Louisiana families plan with confidence and clarity for every chapter of life. Her practice focuses on estate planning, trusts, successions, real estate law, and asset protection, combining compassionate counsel with meticulous legal precision.

As a mother of five, Valerie understands that life’s legal decisions are deeply personal. She guides clients through the complexities of planning with empathy, patience, and a focus on long-term peace of mind — ensuring every plan reflects both legal integrity and family values.

Experience and Credentials
Valerie earned her Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School and her Bachelor of Arts in History and Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations from Yale University. She was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 2010, authorized to practice before all Louisiana state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Before founding her firm, Valerie built a nationally recognized career advising families and businesses on major financial commitments — guiding high-value private clients through multimillion-dollar projects and business ventures across the country. She has also served as a speaker on financial planning, entrepreneurship, and strategic decision-making for national audiences.
