OAKWOOD CENTER PARTNERS WITH WE LIFT YOU UP AND UNITED BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION FOR PINK BAG SECOND LINE EVENT AND FOOD DRIVE BENEFITING SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK
Join us as we host a series of events to raise awareness for breast cancer and
fight to end hunger in South Louisiana
WHAT: The United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) and You Night Event” “We Lift You Up” are partnering with Oakwood Center for a variety of activities to support breast cancer survivors and those currently battling breast cancer.
UBCF will donate 150 “Pink Bags” filled with fabulous products for breast cancer patients and survivors. Oakwood Center will be collecting food donations (with a focus on therapeutic and nutritional items) at Center Court, for Second Harvest Food Bank throughout the month of October.
Oakwood Center is going…PINK; with pennants and banners throughout the center, selfie wall with #oakwoodcenter hashtag opportunities, a PINK balloon arch, lit up fountain, retailer’s PINK window displays and mall staff and patrons wearing PINK on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Throw on some pink, bring your second line umbrellas or handkerchiefs and come join Oakwood Center’s Pink Second Line as we parade around the mall, starting from Center Court behind a brass band with the New Orleans famous ladies marching groups: “The Pussyfooters”, “The WeatherGirls”, “The Muff-A-Lottas” and “Crescent City Dames” and Breast Cancer Patients and Survivors, care givers, loved ones and the community, all in PINK!
After the PINK Second Line, the 150 “Pink Bags” donated by UBCF, will be distributed to pre-registered breast cancer survivors and patients through You Night’s “We Lift You Up”, who holds year-round programs to help women embrace life beyond cancer. Great American Cookies will have two huge PINK cookies for the occasion.
